Parent and Me Jiujitsu is back!

I wanted to create a class where parents and their young children can move, learn, and play together.

$20 Per Child, Parents Train for Free!

Info

  • SubForce Jiu Jitsu,

    718 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ.

Once you come inside, head upstairs to new and spacious mats! (Free street parking is all along Ridge Road, as well as side streets.)

  • Monday 6:00-6:30pm

Class is 30min and starts at 6pm. Be sure to sign up ahead of time, to be sure there is a spot available. Subject to close for holidays.

  • This class is designed for young children ages 1-5. If your child falls outside of that age range and you would still like to come, let us know.

This is not a drop off class, it is for parents to train with their kids!

Parents don’t have to have any experience. You don’t have to be a Subforce Jiujitsu member.

  • Wear comfortable clothes. A Jiujitsu Gi is not required for this class, however if you or your kids do have one, feel free to wear it!

We recommend no socks on the mat, you will have the best grip being barefoot. And of course never wear shoes on the mat.

Make it stand out

Coming from a dance background, Jiu Jitsu was alway more than a defense martial art to me, it was: primal movement, community, improvisation, and exploration.

While jiujitsu can be so complex, it’s most basic concepts come quite naturally to young children.

What to expect:

Come a few minuets early, so we can line up and get started!

You can leave your shoes and water bottles in the waiting room just outside the mat space.

We start with WARM UPS!

Jiujitsu warmups are so much fun, you might think they were invented for children. We easily adapt movements to work with children of all ages and abilities.

We will crawl, climb, carry, scoot, shrimp, roll, jump, and more!

Jiujitsu Foundations

We will introduce core jiujitsu principals in a playful way. This will give parents and kids a glimpse into Jiu Jitsu landscape, and will give kids plenty of opportunities to climb and monkey around with mom and dad.

We Will Explore: Guard Retention/ Passing Guard from Standing, Backpack/ Back Control, Technical Stand Up, Mount Control/ Escape, Closed Guard

We are a jiujitsu Family!

I met my husband Abe at a jiujitsu tournament back in 2012. Soon after meeting him, I began to train as well. My son has been on the jiujitsu mats since he was in my womb, and now taking class is the highlight of his week. July of 2025 my husband and I bought the jiujitsu school, and now Subforce Jiujitsu is under our care. Lyla has gotten very comfortable on the mats, and doing jiujitsu with her older brother at home.
